With more than 20 years of experience, Nessler is known for representing multinational corporations, financial institutions, family offices and high-net-worth individuals in complex tax disputes. His expertise spans federal and state tax matters, including IRS investigations and appeals, trials and appellate litigation.

Nessler has successfully litigated tax cases in the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and various U.S. District Courts. He has tackled a broad range of issues such as civil fraud, tax shelters, option trading transactions, offshore bank accounts, employment classification, transferee liability and government investigations. Nessler also advises clients on the IRS’ voluntary disclosure program, with a focus on international tax matters.

Before joining Wiggam Law, Nessler was a senior litigator at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he handled high-profile tax controversy and litigation cases. He is a frequent writer and lecturer on tax-related topics and has contributed significantly to the academic and professional discourse on tax litigation. He previously served as director of the Tax Clinic at NYU School of Law, mentoring the next generation of tax professionals.
Nessler received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and a St. Thomas More Scholar. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Tax Section and a past chair of the ABA Tax Section’s Court Practice and Procedure Subcommittee.
