Ryan Smith is a Senior Attorney with Wiggam Law in Atlanta, Georgia. Ryan began working at Wiggam Law in April 2019 as a case coordinator, serving as a liaison between the law firm and our clients to help obtain important documents, track deadlines, answer client questions, and keep clients updated on their case. Now, as an associate attorney, Ryan represents clients dealing with an assortment of IRS and state tax matters including resolving IRS tax debt, responding to IRS audit letters and writing IRS audit reconsideration letters, and working to release IRS wage garnishments and IRS levies.

Ryan was born in Roswell, Georgia, and has lived in the Metro Atlanta area for most of his life. He earned his B.S. in financial management, with an emphasis on real estate, from Clemson University in 2006. Ryan received his J.D. in 2010 from the Florida Coastal School of Law, where he graduated with both Pro Bono Honors and a sports law certificate.

Prior to working at Wiggam Law, Ryan's professional background includes seven years of experience as an IT project manager, where he implemented multimillion-dollar projects in the telecom industry.

Outside of the office, Ryan enjoys exploring Atlanta and its foodie scene. You can often find him at an Atlanta United match, an Atlanta Braves game, or attending a Clemson football game---he is an avid Tigers fan. Ryan also enjoys spending time with his family and volunteering through his church.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

"Don't go to the grocery store on an empty stomach."
What was your least favorite childhood chore and why?

"Washing dishes. It felt like it took forever as a child."

Ryan Smith is a Senior Attorney at Wiggam Law, where he helps individuals and businesses resolve complex IRS and state tax issues. He has experience negotiating tax debt resolutions, responding to IRS audits, preparing audit reconsideration requests, preparing innocent spouse requests, and disputing ACA compliance tax issues. Ryan is committed to guiding clients through challenging tax matters with clear communication, practical solutions, and responsive service.

Ryan joined Wiggam Law in April 2019 as a Case Coordinator, serving as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the tax resolution process. In that role, he coordinated case documentation, managed critical deadlines, answered client questions, and kept clients informed every step of the way. That hands-on experience gave Ryan a unique perspective on the client journey and laid the foundation for his promotion to Associate Attorney in August 2019. His commitment to client success and exceptional service led to his promotion to Senior Attorney in April 2024. Today, Ryan leads a team of Associate Attorneys and Paralegals while continuing to advocate for clients facing complex tax matters.

Before entering the legal profession, Ryan spent seven years at Amdocs as an IT project manager in the telecommunications industry, leading multimillion-dollar implementation projects. His background in project management and problem-solving helps him approach complex tax matters with organization, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.

A Georgia native, Ryan grew up in Roswell and has spent most of his life in the Metro Atlanta area. He earned a bachelor's degree in Financial Management, with an emphasis in Real Estate, from Clemson University in 2006 before earning his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2010. While in law school, Ryan earned Pro Bono Honors and completed a Sports Law Certificate.

Outside the office, Ryan enjoys spending time with family and friends, discovering Atlanta's restaurant scene, attending local events, competing in team trivia nights, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta United. Every fall, you'll also find him tailgating with friends and cheering on his beloved Clemson Tigers.

  • Schneider-Andrew 'Andy'-00351-Tax Controversy - Client owed over $290,000 to the IRS and, I was successfully able to negotiate an Offer in Compromise where we settled for $500.
  • International Follies Inc.--03603-Tax Controversy - Client owed over $138k to the IRS in civil penalties assessed against their 2019 tax year due to late filing and late furnishing of 1094/1095-C health care tax forms. We were successful in arguing reasonable cause circumstances, which lead to the full civil penalty amount being abated
