ATLANTA, GA., July 24, 2024 – Wiggam Law is pleased to announce the addition of John H. Kirbo as a Senior Attorney specializing in tax controversies and resolution. Kirbo brings extensive experience in Federal District Court and tax litigation to further enhance the team’s mission of helping businesses and individuals solve tough tax problems.

Kirbo has a long history of successfully navigating complex tax disputes. His work has encompassed a variety of tax issues, including audit representation, tax litigation, penalty abatement requests, innocent spouse claims, and collection issues. He also maintains an extensive legal background resolving numerous tax controversies, including Section 831(b) captive insurance companies, Section 170(h) conservation easements, and estate valuations.
Prior to joining Wiggam Law, Kirbo served as Senior Counsel at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, fighting federal tax cases with the firm’s Tax Controversy practice, and was president of the Dougherty Circuit Bar Association. Additionally, he volunteered annually as an instructor under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Adopt-A-Base program at the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base to help train service members become return preparers.
Kirbo received his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law, his Juris Doctor from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration from Mercer University Stetson School of Business and Economics. He was named among The Albany Herald 40 Under 40, and as a Georgia Rising Star by Super Lawyers for three consecutive years (2022-2024). Kirbo is admitted to practice in the United States Tax Court, various U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Superior, Appeals and Supreme Courts of Georgia.
