Clint J. Locke, JD, CPA, is an accomplished tax attorney and certified public accountant with extensive experience in complex civil and criminal tax litigation, financial investigations, and regulatory compliance. Clint served as a Trial Attorney with the IRS, Office of Chief Counsel, for more than 10 years, litigating complex cases in the United States Tax Court. He has experience litigating syndicated conservation easements, micro-captive insurance arrangements, and hobby loss cases, among others. He has secured favorable decisions in multiple published Tax Court opinions.

Clint also served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama, where he litigated civil and criminal asset forfeiture actions U.S. District Court. He led grand jury investigations with the assistance of the IRS-Criminal Investigation, DEA, ATF, and other federal agencies.

Clint’s private sector experience includes experience as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young, where he led audits of public and private companies, and served as Corporate Counsel for BBVA Compass Bank, as legal counsel for the small business lending division.

Clint earned his J.D., cum laude, from The University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Journal of the Legal Profession. He holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Freed-Hardeman University. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at The University of Alabama School of Law and as an Instructor at The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse School of Accountancy, teaching courses in accounting and federal income tax. Clint is a member of the Alabama State Bar and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Texas.

What was your least favorite childhood chore and why?

Planting shrubs in the backyard. My mom had a never ending supply of plants and we had a huge yard!

Where is your favorite place in the entire world and why?

Cape Town, South Africa. It is incredibly beautiful and rugged at the same time.
